Melissa George appears to have announced her engagement to her French partner Jean-David Blanc.

The Perth-raised actress shared an Instagram snap yesterday of a glass drinks dispenser filled with a pink liquid with the caption: "Putting our awesome engagement gift to good use today".

George and Blanc, an entrepreneur, have been together for two years after meeting at a BAFTA after-party in 2012.

The Paris-based couple welcomed their first child into the world, a son named Raphael, in February.

George previously spoke about her desire to have a family and gushed about finding her match in Blanc.

"I really am picking the right father for my child. It's very simple," she said.

"Words can't describe, sometimes, things that feel so right. I wouldn't want to butcher it by doing that. I had a marriage, and lots of other things, and they were really, really hard.

"I had to take a break this year. I thank God he dropped this man into my life."

George, 38, first married Chilean director Claudio Dabed in 2000 but they split in 2011. She was then linked to music mogul Russell Simmons.

The star recently said her current relationship is the polar opposite of her first marriage.

"I was the one who went out to work, I was the one who did every single thing in the relationship," George said.

"Now I look at my son and there's a reason for everything. I look at the health and beauty he has, and the way he looks at me and my boyfriend together. I think God had bigger plans for me - to have kids."
