Miranda recovering after car crash

UPDATE: Miranda Kerr is in "a lot of pain" after being involved in a car crash on Monday, but her mum says she is OK.

The 29-year-old Australian supermodel is sporting a neck brace after the car in which she was a passenger alongside her assistant was hit by another vehicle while they were travelling on a Los Angeles freeway.

Miranda today tweeted: "Thanks for all the messages of support, I'm on the mend."

A spokesperson for the Victoria's Secret beauty said: "She is in a lot of pain, but really, we are just glad that it was not more serious."

The model's British actor husband, Orlando Bloom, and their two-year-old son, Flynn, were not in the car at the time of the crash.

Miranda's mother, Therese Kerr, assured her fans that Miranda is doing well.

Alongside a photograph of roses on her Instagram profile, Therese wrote: "I've had lots of people on social media asking if Miranda is OK.

"Thank you all for your beautiful thoughts, prayers and well wishes, it means so much to us.

"Please know that Miranda is fine.

"She was involved in a car accident and is currently having to wear a neck brace, but thankfully she is OK and Flynn wasn't in the car with her.

"Everyone is fine, so please don't worry. Sending you all much love and gratitude."

Miranda immediately underwent an MRI scan after the incident and was photographed wearing a neck brace yesterday, which she tried to conceal with a large scarf.

It has been reported that the driver of the other car was arrested and may face charges for reckless driving.
