Chisel returns for one night stand

Oz rock legends Cold Chisel play Perth Arena on November 14 as part of their One Night Stand national tour, unveiled at the first NRL State of Origin match last night.

Jimmy Barnes and the boys will kick off the tour at the Deni Ute Muster in Deniliquin, NSW before playing the NRL Grand Final in Sydney on October 4 and heading around Australia.

The tour includes the final concerts at Qantas Credit Union Arena in December before the venue formerly known as the Sydney Entertainment Centre closes. These special shows sold out within minutes of going on sale earlier this month, prompting the ARIA Hall of Famers to announce more dates.

“In March we played a homecoming show in Adelaide to 35,000 people,” Barnes said. “Then when we announced these two shows in Sydney the reaction was ballistic.

“The demand blew our minds, suggesting that it was time for us to get back out there.”

Barnes will be joined by superstar band mates Ian Moss, Don Walker, Phil Small and Charley Drayton, who has played drums with Chisel since original member Steve Prestwich died in 2011.

Cold Chisel, which released latest album No Plans in 2012, has sold 6.7 million albums in Australia.

The One Night Stand tour references their famed 1983 Last Stand tour, which also finished at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Tickets for the Perth Arena concert — the band’s first WA date since a Swan Valley gig three years ago — go on sale June 3 from Ticketek with a fan pre-sale starting June 1.
