Huge snake devours goat

Locals in a village in India have have captured amazing footage of a python devouring an adult goat.

The footage was recorded in the village of Garkhuta in West Bengal.

Snakes have a flexible lower jaw and numerous joints which allow them to swallow large animals. Contrary to popular belief, the jaws do not dislocate.

Meanwhile, a large carpet python has mistaken itself for a fire hose at a Queensland kindergarten.

Staff at Nambour C&K Childcare Centre got a bit of a fright when they noticed a snake had slithered through their reception doors.

As they rushed to call for help, the snake proved it had other plans, climbing a wall and claiming a fire hose as it's temporary rest spot.

The python attempted to camouflage itself by wrapping its body around the hose reel.

Sunshine Coast Snake Catcher Richie Gilbert, who was tasked to remove the snake, said it was common for pythons to head for higher ground when they felt uncomfortable.

“The front door to the reception was open so it would’ve just come right in,” Mr Gilbert told Yahoo7.

It’s about the 12th snake he had relocated at Sunshine Coast childcare centres this season.

He said snakes were often found at childcares because they were always located in residential areas with larger blocks of land.

“There’s always someone keeping an eye out at a childcare centre during the day,” he said.

“As most of us are at work we probably just don’t see the snakes as much.”

Due to the amount of snakes found in child prone areas Mr Gilbert felt snake education was a must for young children.

“I’d hate to think what might happen one day where a kid sees one and picks it up,” he said.
