Kids throw Billie Piper off balance

As a mother of two young and highly energetic boys, Billie Piper is finding it hard to manage the pressures of work and family life.

Worn out after a restless flight to Australia with her six and three-year-old in tow, the actress and former pop star, right, touched down in *Perth on Friday ahead of her appearances at Oz Comic-Con yesterday and today at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

"I don't juggle it at all well," she told AAA Weekend of her work/life balance over the sound of screaming youngsters in the background.

"It's always a bit of a mess because it's not something that you can do seamlessly."

Having only been to Australia once before, Piper was determined to bring her children along for a holiday this time around but the process of travelling with them has taken some adjusting to.

"I've never actually done this amount of travelling with them before so it's new ground," she said. "There are moments of it being joyous peppered with moments of it being pull-your-hair-out maddening. How they can have that kind of energy after five hours of sleep is beyond me. I feel wasted next to them, their energy knows no bound."

Though she's a newcomer to the act of globetrotting with little ones, the Doctor Who star is an old hat at convention appearances and always looks forward to getting to know her fans.

Ten years since she first appeared as Rose Tyler opposite *Christopher Eccleston *'s Doctor Who, Piper still enjoys meeting aficionados of the popular sci-fi series.

"They're always interesting encounters," she said.

"You meet a lot of people who have found the show because they've either inherited it through their family or they have found the show at a time when they're not feeling particularly great - whether they're depressed, isolated or sick. So you meet a lot of those guys so it's very emotional as an experience."
