US tourist killed, six people injured in head on crash

A tourist is dead and a toddler seriously injured in a car crash in Bedfordale.

A car carrying three US tourists collided head-on at high speed with another car carrying three adults and a two-year-old girl on Albany Highway this morning.

A female tourist died at the scene and all other occupants of the cars were injured.

A toddler was rushed to PMH with serious injuries.

The two-year-old was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital with a police officer driving the ambulance so paramedics could treat her during the journey.

She remained in a critical condition late this afternoon.

The RAC rescue chopper was also called in to take some of the injured to Royal Perth Hospital.

Police have praised witnesses who stopped to help at the scene and did all they could to help those injured.

The US Embassy is now trying to contact the families of the tourists involved.

The crash has closed a portion of Albany Highway.
