Cottesloe chief set for Kimberley role

The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley has appointed a new full-time chief executive.

Behind closed doors at Tuesday's ordinary meeting, the council resolved to appoint Carl Askew to the position on a four-year contact.

The appointment comes after an extensive search process, with Mr Askew, who has been the chief executive at the Town of Cottesloe for the past six years, set to start work with the Shire on May 4.

He is the fourth person to fill the role in less than six months, following the resignations of the previous full-time position holder Gary Gaffney in October and acting chief executive Kevin Hannagan last week.

In a press release issued this morning, the Shire welcomed Mr Askew to the position of chief executive, with president John Moulden confirming Louise Gee would continue in the acting role until May 4.

"I am confident we have found a great fit for the organisation and our community," Cr Moulden said.

"Mr Askew has been set a few challenges, firstly to move the Shire's budget out of a deficit, and myself and the council are looking forward to working with Mr Askew to achieve this."
