Crowe: I'm so sensitive

Russell Crowe on Sunday Night

Russell Crowe says his extreme sensitivity brings out some of his less attractive qualities.

In a Sunday Night interview to air at 6.30pm tomorrow on Seven/GWN7, the actor addresses the conflicting descriptions of his demeanour.

Crowe earned a reputation as being aggressive in the early 2000s, including originally being charged with assault in the US for throwing a telephone at a New York hotel employee. Conversely, his performances in films such as A Beautiful Mind and Gladiator, for which he won a best actor Oscar, show a deep, hardworking side.

"I'm extremely sensitive and that's probably where some of my negative stuff comes from," the 50-year-old told Sunday Night's Mike Willesee.

"I know from a handshake whether somebody means me good or ill."

On the New York incident he was adamant he had not touched the employee.

"I was trying to get a line out to Australia, I am in a fancy hotel . . . I have 12 rooms booked and the only thing stopping me between the line out and the conversation with (wife) Danni (Spencer) and (son) Charlie was this bloke who refused to make it easy. His response was 'whatever' and he hung up on me, so I went downstairs and had a word with him.

"I never touched him mate, never laid a finger on him, you know, did not physically hurt him."
