Troy names Purvis as new MD

Gold producer Troy Resources has appointed former Straits Resources executive Martin Purvis as managing director.

The move follows the departure of Paul Benson after seven years at the South America-focused miner.

Mr Purvis was most recently chief executive of Singapore-based Sakari Resources, a coal mining business that was demerged from Straits Resources in 2010.

Troy chairman David Dix said: "We are confident that Martin is the right match for Troy.

"He has the right skill set to ensure the company maintains the significant momentum it has built up over recent years," Mr Dix said.

Mr Purvis visited Troy's Casposo mine in Argentina and Korouni project in Guyana before accepting the role.

"There's no question about the future potential and quality of the asset portfolio," he said.

Troy's shares closed up 1 cent to 81 cents.
