Heathridge drowning tragedy

Girl drowns in Heathridge pool

Emergency workers tried desperately to save a toddler who drowned at a Heathridge home this morning.

The little girl is understood to have fallen in a backyard pool at a property she was visiting with her relatives about 11.15am.

St John Ambulance paramedics worked on the toddler for some time before rushing her to Joondalup Health Campus.

Doctors at the hospital declared her dead shortly after her arrival.

Police are investigating the child’s death for the State Coroner.

Eight children under the age of five lost their lives in drowning incidents in WA last financial year.
