Model turned designer Jodhi Meares has been fined $1100 and disqualified from driving for a year after pleading guilty in a Sydney court to a drink driving charge.
The 43-year-old first wife of billionaire James Packer blew 0.181 and had to be rescued from her Range Rover after smashing into three parked cars in Bellevue Hill in Sydney's east in June.
Magistrate Julie Hubur said it was unlikely Ms Meares did not feel the effects of more than four drinks she'd consumed when she got in the car.
"Had you been driving under the prescribed limit the chance of having an accident was remote," Ms Huber said.
Wearing a chic black pant suit and heels, Ms Meares stood briefly when acknowledged by Ms Huber.
Her lawyer Chris Murphy argued Ms Meares had thought she drank only the recommended amount of alcohol on the night of the accident.
"It will be put to you that that was the belief of the defendant," Mr Murphy said.
"She has 4 1/3 drinks in four-and-a-half hours and she has this amazing reading."
The court also heard that Ms Meares has been too terrified to leave her house since the accident because of media attention.
Mr Murphy said between the time of the June 21 accident and July 7 she would not leave her $1 million Point Piper unit.
After a brief trip overseas, she returned to Australia on August 16.
"And (she) has been in her apartment since," he said.
"I had to get her today.
"The issue has gotten so bad with the harassment ... I am trying to talk her out of leaving Australia."
Mr Murphy told the court she had been prescribed anti-anxiety medication since the accident.
But prosecutor Daniel McMahon said the argument that Ms Meares didn't know she was drunk was inconsistent.
"It may be and certainly I've seen photos of the intersection ... It may be the island is not as visible as it should be.
"But the fact remains Ms Meares had an accident while driving home intoxicated."
The court heard Ms Meares had finished more than an hour and a half of yoga and five hours of drinks with friends when the accident happened.
Her car rolled on its side after she clipped a parked car.
Ms Meares was married to Mr Packer for just over two years.
