Driver clocked at 50km over the speed limit

A 52-year-old man has been charged with reckless driving after he was allegedly caught driving 50km/h over the speed limit.

Traffic police were conducting speed checks within a work zone about 15km north of Whim Creek on North West Coastal Highway yesterday afternoon when the alleged offence occurred.

Police allege the man was driving an Isuzu truck at 110km/h in a 60km/h zone.

The Deepdale man will be summoned for reckless driving and having no authority to drive and an unlicensed vehicle.

A 63-year-old female driver from Port Hedland will also be summoned for reckless driving.

Police allege the woman was driving a Toyota Hilux ute at 109km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Both vehicles were issued a surrender notice and will be seized for 28 days.
