Burswood sinkhole traps car

Innaloo woman Chantel Lappin was shocked to discover her car stuck in a sinkhole at Crown Perth on Saturday night.

Ms Lappin returned to her car after watching Grease and found the Hyundai in the bitumen.

"It was not what you expect when you go to Crown - to come out and see your car undrivable," she said.

"It was roped off and security told me I could not move it, so they gave me a Cabcharge to get home."

A Crown spokeswoman said heavy rain caused the hole.

"We have had a minor failure with a stormwater pipe," she said. "The affected area has been isolated and works are currently being undertaken to repair the carpark."

Last night, Ms Lappin's car was still lodged where the Burswood Dome used to be.
