So far, the only glimpse we've had of Fifty Shades of Grey's leading man is from the back, a tagline teasing: "Mr Grey will see you now."
But now, fans of E.L. James' wildly successful erotic novel have got their first official look at Christian Grey to coincide with what would be the character's 31st birthday.
A newly released still from the upcoming film adaptation shows actor Jamie Dornan as the S&M-loving billionaire, smouldering as he sits in the driver's seat of his sports car.
"Happy Birthday Christian Grey #FiftyShades," the post on the movie's Facebook page read.
But while most fans seemed happy with the former Calvin Klein model's brooding gaze, some were still pining for Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam.
Initially cast in the role, the star recently revealed quitting the project was a "heartbreaking" decision.
"If only Charlie Hunnam held on to this role," one fan pined.
Another put it simply: "Nope. Not the one."
Other comments urged the naysayers to "stop moaning" and give Dornan a chance in the role.
The much-hyped flick also stars Melanie Griffith's daughter *Dakota Johnson *as heroine Anastasia Steele and singer Rita Ora as Grey's sister Mia.
The Fifty Shades of Grey film opens in Australia on February 12.
