Police chase driver flees crash

Police are looking for a driver who led officers on a pursuit and crashed into another car, injuring a woman, in Perth's east.

The man was last seen running along a Bayswater footpath after crashing into the Mitsubishi Lancer in the early hours of this morning.

Police had pulled over the man's green Ford Fairmount Utility at a service station at the corner of Walcott Street and Guildford Road in Mount Lawley at about 2.50am.

A female passenger got out of the utility before the driver accelerated away east on Guildford Road.

Police chased the utility and saw it turn left on to King William Street in Bayswater before going over the crest of a hill.

When police reached the hill, the utility had collided with the Mitsubishi.

The car's 24-year-old female driver was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The man was last seen running adjacent to the train line.

He is described as being about 176cm tall with a medium build and brown, shoulder length hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt and dark baggy three-quarter-length pants.

Police want to speak to anyone who has information about the driver or anyone who saw the utility before the incident.

Those with information are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
