Major Crime looks into 1991 death

An unsolved death of an Albany man continues to distress his family 23 years after his body was found.

Major Crime Squad officers are in Albany seeking the public’s help in answering questions about the death of Mark Edward Gregory in 1991.

Mr Gregory attended a party on Mercer Road in Albany on the night of April 6 and left on foot some time between 3.30am and 4am on April 7 to walk home.

Mr Gregory was found dead on Mercer Road at 4:55am by a passing motorist.

A police spokeswoman said he had injuries consistent with being hit by a car.

"Police are trying to establish the circumstances leading to his death," the spokeswoman said.

"Mr Gregory's death has remained a mystery for many years and this causes ongoing distress to his family and friends.

"Somebody in the Albany community knows what happened that night and we encourage them to come forward and speak to police."

Mr Gregory's family has set up a Facebook page in his memory and to collect information that might help them piece together his last movements.

In 2009, the unsolved hit-and-run case was reopened when fresh information came to hand, and in 2012 Mr Gregory's children went public with a plea for more information to help police solve the case.
