Moped teen flees police

A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital last night after he crashed his moped while trying to flee police in East Cannington.

Officers tried to stop the boy near the intersection of Henry and Crawford street intersection just before 10pm after noticing there was no numberplate on the vehicle.

A police spokesman said there was no pursuit involved in the crash.

He said officers uncovered a numberplate in a storage compartment and were now investigating if the moped was stolen.

The 16-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries and his 18-year-old passenger was taken into custody.
