Man's nose speared with pool cue

A 20-year-old man has been charged over an alleged bar assault where a man was speared through the nose with a pool cue in Karratha.

Police allege the 20-year-old man and the 47-year-old victim had been drinking at a bar in Karratha when there was an altercation between them.

The 20-year-old man allegedly used the pool cue as a spear, throwing it at the 47-year-old and causing it to go through the bridge of his nose, a spokesman from Karratha police said.

It is believed the pool cue had to be removed from the victim's nose.

He was taken to hospital and his injuries are not life-threatening.

Police have charged the 20-year-old man with unlawful wounding and he was remanded in custody to appear in the Karratha Magistrate's Court this morning.
