A man has been charged over an indecent assault on a woman after he was arrested following a failed attempt to leave the country.

Sex assault squad officers charged a 27-year-old man in relation to a burglary and indecent assault on a 19-year-old woman in Dudley Park on February 13.

Police say that the woman was asleep in her home about 2am when she was woken by a man sitting on her bed.

He indecently assaulted the young woman.

Police received information about the man through CrimeStoppers after a composite image was released.

The man was arrested in Rockingham after a failed attempt to leave the country.

He has been charged with aggravated burglary and indecent assault and will appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
