SW man accused of 'grooming' 13yo girl

A 21-year-old South West man has been charged with "grooming" a 13-year-old girl and exposing her to sexual material online.

Detectives from the Online Child Exploitation squad investigated the man's online activities after they were contacted by the girl's concerned mother earlier this month.

Police will allege the man used online chat facilities to speak to the girl about subjects of a sexual nature.

It is also alleged he exposed her to "indecent matter".

Police arrested the 21-year-old on January 23 and have charged him with one count of using electronic communication to procure a person believed to be under 16 to engage in sexual activity and two counts of using electronic communication to expose a person believed to be under 16 to indecent matter.

He is scheduled to appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court on February 7.

Anyone with information about child abuse or exploitation is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
