Story behind touching photo of coronavirus patient in bed on the street

A world-renowned doctor has shared a dystopian-looking picture with a heartwarming story about a coronavirus patient who has been stuck inside for nearly a month.

Dr Ali Khan, an American physician and former Assistant Surgeon General, shared the photo of a coronavirus patient venturing outside a Chinese hospital in the epicentre of the disease for the first time in weeks.

A patient lying in a hospital bed is seen pointing to the sunset, with what appears to be an oxygen tank next to them.

A doctor wearing a hazmat suit is standing next to the patient’s bed, also pointing to the sunset.

“At People's Hospital of Wuhan University, a physician rolled a hospital bed outside so a 87-year-old patient who had been hospitalised for nearly a month could enjoy the sunset,” Dr Khan tweeted, sharing the touching moment.

“The best of us,” he described the heartwarming snap along with the hashtag “SARS2019p”, referring to the recent coronavirus outbreak.
