Terminally ill QLD man shares heartfelt moment in bucket list 'journey'
A 21-year-old man from Queensland has set out to complete his bucket list in the final weeks of his life, after a devastating diagnosis last year.
Kienan Moore was diagnosed with cancer in his knee in 2020, but since then the disease has spread to his lungs and brain.
After he learned his diagnosis was terminal, he sat down with his mum, dad, sister and longtime girlfriend, Olivia Hinz, to write a list of things he wanted to do before he died.
He later revealed that list to the Courier Mail, and was able to tick off the first item on his bucket list — proposing to the love of his life.
Mr Moore told the publication he had given Ms Hinz a promise ring and told her about the upcoming proposal.
"It’s actually kind of fun because she knows it’s going to happen but she doesn’t know when. The suspense must be killing her knowing I could get down on one knee at any time," he said earlier this month.
On Friday, Mr Moore did just that. He hopes be able to make the wedding in early January, Nine News reported.
"I am the luckiest man on this planet to be able to have someone so amazing and truly beautiful, that is by my side through this crazy journey we are going through," he wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday.
"I’m so glad I have the opportunity to find the love of my life and now to be engaged to you it’s honestly a dream come true. I can’t wait to marry you."
This week the 21-year-old got to meet with Supercars driver Todd Hazlewood at a racing track. He got more than a ride as he also was gifted racing gear from the Supercars driver.
"It was amazing. I'm lost for words. I have no voice but I couldn't stop smiling," Mr Moore told Nine News.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for the 21-year-old to help him get through more items on his bucket list. So far, more than $39,000 has been raised through the page.
"If you have discount vouchers, can offer a service or spare change could you please contact me so I can pass on anything that could make Kienan's bucket list a reality, and create his lifetime of memories in the time frame he has," the GoFundMe says.
