Teenager dies following alleged gang rape at party
WARNING - DISTRESSING CONTENT: A teen has died after she was allegedly gang raped by a group of boys.
Jhoselin Monica Calani, 17, of Oruro, Bolivia, met four boys at a party, along with three other friends, on October 16, Bolivia.com reports citing a report from the prosecutor’s office.
The party involved alcohol and according to the report, Jhoselin passed out after drinking two glasses.
When she woke, Jhoselin complained of soreness in her hips and struggled to stand.
Oruro department attorney Orlando Zapata said Jhoselin “did not remember what happened, she felt very cold and presented a strong pain in the hips”.
The teen made her way home but a passer-by realised her poor condition and took her to hospital in a critical condition.
She later died but it’s not clear when.
Her mum, who hasn’t been named, told reporters the family is mourning instead of celebrating her graduating from school.
“I want to tell you those guys cannot go out, justice must be carried out, they must pay for what they did, they should not be punished with a minor penalty,” she said.
Four teens, aged between 16-17-years-old, are currently in juvenile detention.
Mr Zapata said the four boys could see their charges updated to femicide.
Authorities are trying to determine if drugs were involved.
