Teen worker stabbed to death at BWS bottle shop

Police arrested a 19-year-old man on Monday morning after the fatal attack in Darwin.

A 19-year-old has been arrested after a bottle shop worker, also 19, was fatally stabbed in Darwin.

Officers were called to a BWS store on Sunday night after reports a man had assaulted an employee.

Police say the worker was stabbed and a 19-year-old man left the scene in a car.

The employee was dead when paramedics and officers arrived.

The chief executive of BWS owners Endeavour Group confirmed the death in a statement.

"Our thoughts are with the team member's family, friends and loved ones," Steve Donohue said.

He said the company would be providing counselling and support to its Darwin employees and the worker's family.

NT Deputy Chief Minister Nicole Manison said the incident was a tragedy, but declined to comment further.

Local MP Mark Turner, a former police negotiator, expressed immense sadness upon hearing the news on Monday morning.

"My heart goes out to the young person that’s lost their life, their family, friends & co-workers at the Airport Tavern. It’s the devastating message no parent, sibling, or loved one can imagine," he posted on Twitter.

Police arrested a 19-year-old man on Monday morning and he is expected to be charged.
