Teen cut from his car after suspected street racing crash

A teenage driver has been cut from a car wreckage in Sydney’s west overnight after a suspected street race took a horrific turn.

Emergency crews were called to Pemulwuy about 9:30pm Sunday night after a vehicle collided with a parked car.

Police said a 17-year-old driver of another car stopped to help.

It took rescue crews half an hour to cut free a 19-year-old trapped inside a small sedan.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital suffering possible head, spinal and leg injuries – but is said to be in a stable condition.

The younger driver who stopped to assist later returned a negative result to a roadside breath test.

Both drivers had their licences suspended immediately, with police appealing for further information.
