'Earth is amazing': Tasmanian beach transformed by phenomenon
It’s hard to imagine waking up at the crack of dawn to go take photos of algae but then again, this is no ordinary algae.
Photographers have flocked to a beach in Tasmania’s northwest where the ocean has been transformed into a glistening shade of bright blue.
Bioluminescent algae infiltrated the waters at Preservation Bay, transforming the beach into a remarkable sight, not unlike the northern lights.
Instagram users needed not worry about their usual struggle for that perfect filter as the warm sea conditions created its own glittering effect on the water’s surface.
“To say I was excited to finally see some #bioluminescence was an understatement,” Leanne Marshall wrote alongside an incredible snap.
“The night the magic blue waves came to the bay, I'm in love,” another wrote.
"How could you not get in the ocean when you get a pretty welcome home from some rare bioluminescence plankton and a pod of dolphins," Bianca Dunham said.
