Talks on fate of Wittenoom

The committee charged with deciding the fate of Wittenoom will hear today what experts believe should be done about the Pilbara ghost town's worst asbestos-contaminated areas.

Experts in contaminated sites and mine closure management will present remediation options and recommendations for three high-risk sites - including the former Wittenoom mine and Wittenoom Gorge - to the group known as the Wittenoom steering committee, which will decide whether to endorse them and then move to a second phase.
