A taekwondo instructor accused of a triple murder in Sydney’s west will in the coming weeks learn more about the police allegations against him after he spent his birthday in custody.

Kwang Kyung Yoo, 50, is charged with the murders of Min Cho, 41, and a seven-year-old child at North Parramatta and the woman’s husband, Steven Cho, 39, at a Baulkham Hills unit block earlier this year.

The North Kellyville man has been in custody bail refused since his bedside arrest in hospital in February.

His matter was briefly mentioned in Parramatta Local Court on Thursday.

A police brief of evidence was due to be served on Mr Yoo and his lawyers this week; however, the court was told only parts of the evidence had been turned over to his defence.

Mr Yoo did not appear via visual link in court on Thursday as he was represented by his Legal Aid solicitor Gaston Gration. He has not yet entered a plea.

He celebrated his 50th birthday in custody last week as he waits for his case to move through the courts.

The matter will return to court on June 20.

It’s alleged that Ms Cho and the child were in February murdered at a taekwondo studio where the boy was a student.

Police have alleged that Mr Yoo, who was known to his students as Master Lion, left the bodies inside the studio before driving Ms Cho’s white BMW to her Baulkham Hills house, where Mr Cho was stabbed several times.

NSW Police found Mr Cho’s body at the Watkins Rd home before the bodies of his wife and the child were discovered by police two hours later.

Police have alleged that Mr Yoo drove to Westmead Hospital with stab wounds to his chest, arms and stomach and claimed he was randomly attacked in a supermarket carpark.

Police have alleged he sustained the injuries while stabbing Mr Cho to death.
