A 19-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her cat to death and throwing it from a second-floor balcony in Sydney’s north.
Police were called to a unit on Mooramba Road at Dee Why on Wednesday about 8.20am where they found a dead cat.
The cat’s body was taken to a vet who determined it had been stabbed 20 times.
The woman was arrested and taken to Northern Beaches Hospital for assessment.
She’s been charged with torturing, beating and causing the death of an animal, and committing an act of aggravated cruelty on an animal.
The woman was refused bail and will face Manly Local Court on Thursday.
Police added a second cat was taken from the unit and placed in the care of the RSPCA.
