Hero bystander saves stranger in the nick of time at Sydney station
An incredible rescue has been caught on CCTV, capturing the moment a hero rushed to pull a commuter to safety, who was seconds from being hit by a train.
Footage shows a man leaning over the edge of a Petersham train station platform, in Sydney’s inner west, appearing to be sick on a late night out.
He is too distracted to notice the approaching train, but another commuter does see the impending disaster and rushes towards the man in the nick of time.
The Good Samaritan bounded towards the stranger and pulled him to safety.
That hero, Kieren Foley, told 9 News he was grateful he was “at the right place at the right time”.
“I just remember grabbing him by the shoulders and pulling him back. Time slowed down,” he said.
But after being rescued, the commuter is seen again wandering over to the other side of the platform before repeating his mistake, forcing Mr Foley to intervene a second time.
“I said, ‘Take a seat on the bench mate, and [sit there] until you feel better. And make sure you get home safe’,” he told 9 News.
