Sydney Lotto winner reveals plan to help drought-stricken farmers

A Sydney Lotto winner has revealed how he plans to spend his winnings, including donating a portion to drought-affected farmers.

The man, aged in his 40s, was one of the seven division one winning entries in Saturday’s Lotto draw. He collected $622,806.56 for division one plus other division prizes taking his total to $686,599.

He was completely oblivious to the win until he was contacted by NSW Lotteries and said the news is still sinking in.

“Wow! I can’t believe it, mate!” he said.

“That’s great news. Just fantastic!

“I’ve been playing off and on for a while and initially I thought this was a joke.

The man, who chose to remain anonymous, said he had a number of people on his list to share his windfall with, but the farmers were at the top.

“We were going to give a donation to the drought fund, but we can increase that now and make it more substantial. I think if we’re blessed with something like this, we should pass it on,” he said.

“We’ll also pay off our mortgage and put the rest in for the kids, for their education.”

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3869 on Saturday were 37, 17, 19, 38, 6 and 26, while the supplementary numbers were 2 and 10.

Across Australia there were seven division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 3869 – four from NSW, two from Victoria and one from South Australia.
