Suspect identified in Massachusetts stabbing spree

Massachusetts prosecutors charged a 26-year-old man Sunday with attempted murder over a stabbing spree that left at least two people injured at a rest stop the day before.

Authorities charged Jared Ravizza over the two stabbings at a Plymouth, Mass., McDonald’s on Saturday and said that he could also be the alleged attacker in a nearby movie theater stabbing earlier that day.

He was charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Police claim Ravizza stabbed a McDonald’s worker through the drive-thru window while sitting in his car at about 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. He then entered the restaurant and stabbed a second worker before fleeing the scene in his car.

The two victims, a 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, were transported to a nearby hospital with knife wounds.

Ravizza was arrested by police at about 7:15 p.m.

The movie theater stabbing occurred about an hour earlier in nearby Braintree, Mass. The attacker entered an AMC theater and stabbed four girls between the ages of 9 and 17 before fleeing.

The four girls sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Boston hospitals for treatment, police said.

The vehicle used in the McDonald’s stabbing matched a description of the vehicle belonging to the suspect in the theater stabbing, police said. Ravizza has not been charged over the theater stabbing, though authorities believe the incidents could be connected.
