Social media giants Facebook, Messenger and Instagram briefly crashed for users around the world on Thursday morning. Some users trying to access Facebook were met with a message saying “Facebook will be back soon”. On Twitter, Facebook acknowledged the outage saying: “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps.
Australia’s aviation safety authority CASA has suspended the Boeing 737 MAX 8 from flying in or out of Australia after a second deadly crash involving the aircraft in the past five months. Fiji Airways was the only airline flying the MAX 8 into Australia after Singapore’s Silk Air grounded its fleet early on Tuesday. Several countries including the UK, China, France, Turkey, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Malaysia and Singapore have also banned the aircraft from their airspace.
China, Indonesia and several airlines around the world have grounded the 737 MAX 8 after a second crash involving the best-selling Boeing aircraft in less than five months. All 157 people on board a 737 MAX 8 operated by Ethiopian Airlines were killed when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff over the weekend. In October, a 737 MAX 8 flown by Lion Air went down off the coast of Indonesia.
Two women living with R. Kelly are defending the R&B superstar charged with sexual abuse, saying in an interview aired Thursday that their relationships with him are consensual. Azriel Clary, 21, and Joycelyn Savage, 23, told the US television network CBS that they “absolutely” are in love with Kelly, brushing off allegations that the 52-year-old artist brainwashes women he keeps in homes that operate as de facto sex cults. “We live with him, and we’re in a relationship with him,” Clary said of Kelly, who returned to jail Wednesday for failing to pay child support.

The man who died during a home invasion in Sydney’s southwest has been identified as personal trainer Brad Soper. Harrington Park resident Francois Schwartz was released without charge after the intruder died in his home early on Sunday.
