Facebook, Messenger and Instagram down for users around the world
Social media giants Facebook, Messenger and Instagram briefly crashed for users around the world on Thursday morning.
Frustrated users took to Twitter to say they were unable to access the websites and apps for a number of hours.
Some users trying to access Facebook were met with a message saying “Facebook will be back soon”.
Instagram users were unable to refresh their app.
Those hoping to use Messenger were unable to contact their friends.
We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

On Twitter, Facebook acknowledged the outage saying: “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps.
Instagram has 1 billion active users every month.
As of December 31, Facebook has more than 2.32 billion monthly active users.
