A Queensland school student has been stabbed in the back and another is talking to police after an incident at a high school.
Police went to Shailer Park State High School, south of Brisbane, about 2pm on Thursday after a 13-year-old pupil stabbed another student, also 13.
He was taken to Queensland Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries in a serious but stable condition.
News Corp reports students had been fighting in the schoolyard when one allegedly brandished a knife.
It is understood the school also sent a note to parents alerting them to the incident.
“Please be advised due to an incident the school went into lockdown. All students are safe & will depart at 3pm at usual,” the statement said according to News Corp.
The school boasts on its website it is one of the most successful independent public high schools in the Logan area.
“With excellent teaching practices, high expectations and a supportive and nurturing educational community students are continuously guided throughout their personal pathway to success,” the website says.
