Stranger Things star to officiate Millie Bobby Brown wedding

Stranger Things' Matthew Modine is going to officiate co-star Millie Bobby Brown's wedding.

Modine – who plays Dr. Martin Brenner, the Hawkins Laboratory head scientist who experimented on Brown's character Eleven – was recently asked by Access Hollywood if the rumours were true about his involvement on her special day.

"I have one of the licences to get people married and Millie thought it'd be great and Jake [Bongiovi] said it'd be a great idea," he responded.

"So I wrote the wedding vows, and they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and become husband and wife."

Modine, seen in Christopher Nolan's Oscar-winning Oppenheimer last year, added: "I've done it one time before, during Covid in upstate New York. It was an outdoor wedding and it was weird, but it's such a beautiful thing to be able to join two people in holy matrimony.

"I've been married 44 years, it's amazing when it works."

During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this month, Brown recalled nearly losing her engagement ring while scuba diving.

The couple were "many metres down" when Bongiovi took out a shell with the engagement ring inside it. "He puts the ring on my hand and as I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger [and] plummets — like, so fast, it was like a cinematic movie," she said.

"[Jake] throws himself. He does a cinematic grab, opens, and he saved the ring."

Stranger Things season 5 is currently in production, with co-director Ross Duffer recently sharing a behind-the-scenes look at Sadie Sink as Max.

Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are now streaming worldwide on Netflix.
