Star Wars: Ahsoka has unveiled a new look at Birds of Prey star Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla with some fresh photos from the upcoming sci-fi series.

The actress will assume the role of the iconic character for the new Disney+ show, which serves as a spin-off to The Mandalorian.

In Entertainment Weekly’s preview for the series, Winstead could be seen donning the green face paint for the character, who had previously appeared in Star Wars: Rebels.

"I see Hera as an incredibly strong but complicated person," said Winstead of the character, who pilots the Ghost. “She is very maternal, but also she's the leader of this crew. She becomes a general, so she's leading a lot of people and becoming something of a legend in her own right.

"Having a character who's already existed and has such a rich history, as an actor, it's incredible. Sometimes we're tasked with creating our own backstories or trying to flesh out a character that doesn't really have that much on the page.

"To play a character that has seasons of storylines and complex histories, with everyone in their life and relationships and experiences, was really something I've never experienced," she added.

Ahsoka will follow the titular character, who is played by Rosario Dawson, as she investigates a growing threat to the galaxy following the fall of the Empire. The series will also star Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Ray Stevenson, David Tennant and Lars Mikkelsen.
