Spider enthusiast allows Huntsman to build web in palm of her hand

A creepy crawly enthusiast has posted a video online that would give those with arachnophobia the shivers.

Lisa van Kula Donovan, from Queensland, shared a short clip of her golden huntsman perched on her hand.

“A close up of Hawn, my Golden huntsman (Beregama aurea) webbing my hand while she’s resting on it,” she wrote on Instagram last Wednesday.

The video sparked plenty of conversation online, with Hawn receiving numerous compliments, being called “gorgeous”, and “a beauty”, while another person “loves those fury feet.”

Several Instagram users were curious about why the huntsman was webbing, with the insect fanatic explaining to one person it was “just for safety in case she drops.”

Ms van Kula Donovan explained to another person that it is like a “tether line” and said the spider won’t jump but if she falls it will come in handy.

She told another instagram user that this particular species is the tamest huntsman she has had.

They’re ALL tame, but Hawn is the only one that will willingly walk onto my hand and doesn’t leave at all,” she wrote.

“My other Golden (Feisty) is now very chill but you can see by her name she wasn’t always like that. Not aggressive at all, just always tried to escape.”
