Speed camera operator targeted in alleged attack
Police are now on the hunt for the group of five men suspected of carrying out the assault.
A speed camera operator has allegedly been assaulted and his vehicle badly damaged during a terrifying overnight attack.
Five men are believed to have ambushed the traffic camera vehicle after midnight this morning while it was parked in Coburg in Melbourne's north.
It's alleged the group jumped onto the man's car, smashed in several windows and threw items at the driver. Photos show the shocking extent of the damage to the car's front and rear windscreens.

The 36-year-old man, from St Albans, managed to drive away from the scene safely and call for help, though he was injured during the ordeal, suffering minor abrasions.

The attack comes amid ongoing strikes between mobile speed camera drivers in Victoria and its operator, Serco, with more due to take place today and tomorrow. Employees have been instructed to walk off the job for two hours on each day.
Victoria Police are investigating the alleged attack and have urged any members of the public with dashcam footage or who may have knowledge of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
