Spectacular footage of swimmer surrounded by killer whales
The incredible moment a swimmer was surrounded by killer whales has been captured on video.
Judie Johnson was swimming at Hahei Beach on New Zealand’s north island on December 4 when three of the whales circled her.
The woman told New Zealand’s 1 News she originally thought the whales were dolphins, but felt slightly nervous after she saw the colour on their backs.
“I was also thinking they eat seals and I’m in a black wetsuit,” she said.
However the killer whales playfully swam around her and she was not harmed.
“It was so different to anything that’s happened to me before, and I thought, no, this is a life-changing experience,” she told News 1.
“They were as interested and curious about me as I was about them.”
