Shocking drone footage shows Russian troops gun down civilian
WARNING - DISTURBING CONTENT: Confronting drone footage appears to show a Ukrainian civilian getting out of his car only to be shot by Russian troops and his body dragged away.
The footage from the surveillance drone— reportedly taken only a few kilometres from Kyiv— was obtained by German broadcaster ZDF.
The footage, which has only been verified by the German station, was reportedly taken on March 7.
Car was a civilian reportedly travelling to Kyiv
In the clip, a Russian tank can be seen on the side of the road near a service station, as well as several cars reportedly heading along the E40 expressway towards the centre of Kyiv.
The clip then shows a driver in a silver vehicle slowing down and turning around, presumably after noticing the Russian tanks.
The person then gets out of the car with his hands up facing the tanks, before falling to the ground, believed to have been shot.
The outlet also reported a woman and child in the vehicle, although their whereabouts is unknown.
ZDF said they can be identified as Russian soldiers because of the white ribbon on their uniforms.
The drone operator, who has not been identified for security reasons, told ZDF he was "observing Russian tank positions" as part of a volunteer operation.
"I was observing Russian tank positions on the road for some time," he told the publication.
"The driver got out of the car, raised his hand and was shot by Russian soldiers."
