Shocking dashcam video shows airborne ute land on top of three cars on highway

WARNING, DISTRESSING FOOTAGE: Occupants of four vehicles have cheated death after a ute driver jumped a median strip, crossed six lanes of traffic and ended up on top of three other cars during a horror peak hour crash.

Chilling dashcam footage captured the moment the vehicle bursts through a T-intersection and hits a median strip, before becoming airborne and landing on top of three sedans.

A woman’s gut-wrenching screams can be heard on impact, as nearby motorists race to help those trapped among the wrecked vehicles.

The crash happened at Pumicestone Rd, Caboolture, about 8.40am Thursday and all occupants incredibly did not receive any life-threatening injuries.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service used hydraulic equipment to free those trapped.

Clayton’s Towing released the dashcam video from its own vehicle, where a driver who was traveling behind the shocking crash can be seen racing from his truck to help. It is believed he was the first to assist, and has been commended by many for not hesitating to render assistance.

Sharing the video to Facebook on Friday, the towing company wrote: “Chilling crash caught on camera yesterday.

“Incredible effort by all emergency crews, including Clayton’s Caboolture team who were called on, using their tow trucks to assist in the technical rescue.

“Amazing part is no fatalities or life threatening injuries.”

Two women were reportedly hospitalised, including the one heard screaming in the clip. Her daughter, Amy Russell, updated those following the towing company’s Facebook thread saying her mother was “lucky to be alive” and “doing well”.

“One of her lungs looks like it may collapse but apart from that 6 broken ribs and a massive bruise on her shoulder, she’s doing great. She is in so so much pain but that was to be expected.”

There were also reports of other victims and two dogs involved in the crash, who were also recovering well.

The 23-year-old Caboolture driver was arrested and tested for illicit substances, a Queensland Police spokesperson confirmed to Yahoo7.

Police will allege drug utensils were found inside the ute.

The man has been issued a driving suspension notice, while police await results of the drug test.

The forensic crash unit is investigating the incident and the man is expected to face serious charges, police said.
