The 16-year-old, who cannot be identified, is alleged to have fatally stabbed an 18-year-old on Power St at Doonside on Friday afternoon.

He did not apply for bail when he briefly appeared at Parramatta Children’s Court on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 3.40pm on Friday, following reports two teenagers had been stabbed.

NSW Police said that the two teens were taken in a car and they had planned to drive to Blacktown Hospital.

However they instead diverted to Blacktown Police Station.

When they arrived at the police station, officers provided first aid and despite efforts by paramedics to save the teen, the 18-year-old died at the scene.

The other teen was taken to Westmead Hospital and on Saturday afternoon police said the boy was in a stable condition.

Officers from Blacktown PAC with assistance from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad has commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Cooey.

As part of the investigation, police are involving possible links the postcode wars, Superintendent Paul Glinn said on Saturday.

“There were youth involved and as part of the investigation, one of the things we will look at is whether there is any affiliation with any groups,” he said.

Police said on Saturday the melee occurred when a number of youths got off a bus and began brawling with another group that was on the side of Powers St.

Bystanders who were in the area said children were on the way home from school waiting for their bus when the incident happened.

Others alleged there was a fight on a bus between a group of teenagers before the alleged stabbing.

Another witness said she saw a youth jump her fence while others ran through backyards.

Superintendent Glinn said the victim’s family was grieving having lost a son and another had been seriously injured.

He on Saturday made a public appeal for anyone with dashcam vision, video or social media footage to come forward and provide it to police.

“If they’ve got footage of anything that occurred, if they can contact police and provide that to us,” he said.

“If there were people in the area that witnessed the event or people perhaps unusually, I would again ask that they make contact with police.”
