'Never ask for cheese!' Restaurant's brutal response to bad review
A restaurant owner hilariously clapped back at a customer who left him a scathing review after being denied a request to put cheese on his seafood dish.
TripAdvisor user Zwelithini M compared his October 2018 dining experience at Maximo Italian Bistrot, in Kennington, London, to “cow dung”.
In his review, he explained that he asked the waiter for some parmesan cheese midway through his seafood meal, stating he like his “cream dishes cheesy”.
The waiter refused his request for cheese, saying it would ruin the flavour of the seafood - an act Mr Zwelithini simply couldn’t wrap his mind around.
Bring “too dumbfounded to be pissed off”, he finished his meal, but called the restaurant to complain about the service when he got home.
To his surprise, a second waiter repeated what he had been told originally, leaving him with no option but to leave a scathing recount of his experience online.
In his response, restaurant owner Massimo Donato, reminded the diner about some rules of Italian cuisine, which included a blanket ban on adding cheese to seafood.
"There are a few rules on the authentic Cucina Italiana you probably aren't aware,” Mr Donato wrote in a reply to the review, The Mirror reported.
"NEVER ask for pineapple on pizza; NEVER put cream on your Carbonara; NEVER ask for any Alfredo pasta (who is Alfredo anyway?); NEVER put chicken on arrabbiata.
"And, last but not least, NEVER EVER EVER ASK FOR CHEESE ON A FISH DISH."
He then took one final dig at the customer, who had chosen to use “The service in this place is second to cow dung” as the headline of his review.
"Try Parmesan on cow dung, it should taste fine for you,” he wrote.
The restaurant has maintained a four-and-a-half star rating out of five despite the man’s review, which received 59 “helpful votes”.
