The tragic story of abandoned puppy found with part of leg amputated

The search is on for the owners of a husky puppy found with a fractured back and part of her leg amputated.

The little dog was found at Adelaide’s Semaphore Park foreshore about two weeks ago. She’s believed to be four months old and had one blue eye and one brown eye.

“Very sadly, this poor puppy was badly injured,” RSPCA SA wrote on Facebook.

“She was missing her hind right leg from the hock down.

“The amputation site appeared to be an old injury and was infected.”

The RSPCA added the pup was also “clearly suffering from exposure to the cold weather”.

X-rays also revealed she had a spinal fracture and it’s believed the limb wasn’t amputated by a vet. The RSPCA added it had no choice but to euthanise the dog.

Chief inspector Andrea Lewis said it was a “very sad outcome” for the pooch and the RSPCA wants to know how she came to being found near the park.

“We are confident that someone owned this dog, she was not underfed, and we encourage anyone who has any information to contact us,” she said.

Anyone with information in regards to this case is urged to contact RSPCA on: 1300 4 777 22.
