Ukraine has introduced a new generation of maritime drones, the Sea Baby-2024, which can carry nearly a ton of explosives up to 1,000 kilometers, announced Artem Dekhtyarenko, a spokesperson for Ukraine's SBU security service, on national television on April 14.

The Sea Baby-2024 represents a significant upgrade over its predecessors in lethality, according to a spokesperson for Ukraine's SBU security service.

"The SBU can target practically any location in the Black Sea," Dekhtyarenko stated.

Ukraine currently deploys two types of naval drones: Sea Baby and Mamay. These drones are constructed from radio-absorbent materials, making them undetectable to enemy radar systems.

"The cost of the SBU drones is estimated at 8.5 million hryvnias ($215,598), while the Russian warships they destroy cost several dozens of millions of dollars," Dekhtyarenko noted.

For the first time, the SBU used a Ukrainian naval drone to attack vessels in the Sevastopol Bay in October 2022, damaging four Russian warships. In total, SBU drones hit 11 Russian vessels and the Crimean Bridge.

SBU Head Vasyl Maliuk said in January that the Sea Baby naval drone was capable of not only carrying explosives but also firing.
