A Victoria Police spokesman said the 65-year-old Wallan man died at the scene.

“It’s believed the school bus was traveling along Wandong Rd just after 3.30pm when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree,” he said.

“The exact cause of the crash is being investigated and roads in the area will be closed for some time.”

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said significant resources were deployed to the scene, including two ambulance helicopters and 10 vehicles.

Paramedics treated one child for a minor upper body injury before taking them to Kilmore Hospital in a stable condition.
