San Francisco to display wooden dragon statues across city for Year of the Dragon

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of San Francisco has initiated a public art project featuring five wooden dragon statues placed across the city in honor of the Year of the Dragon.
About the statues: The dragons, named Blue and White Porcelain, Heavenly Jade, Ping An, Rainbow and Gold Luck Dragons, were designed by artists Stephanie Tsao, Donna Lau, Qinghui Ji and Steph Mufson. The dragons, each with unique cultural and personal inspirations, will be on display only until early March.
Locations of the dragons: The statues will be placed across San Francisco, with Heavenly Jade Dragon at Thrive City, Ping An Dragon near Stonestown Galleria, Blue and White Porcelain Dragon at Union Square, Rainbow Dragon at Lucky Supermarket and Gold Luck Dragon at Rose Pak Station.
Dragon auction: Sponsored by various entities, the statues will reportedly be auctioned off after March 2, with proceeds benefiting API Legal Outreach, Asian Women’s Shelter and Charity Cultural Services Center. A photography contest involving the dragon statues is also part of the project, with winners receiving a set of prizes, including a dragon pin, a festival t-shirt, a $50 gift card to Lucky Supermarket and a promotional item from the Golden State Warriors.
