Sam Ryder: Eurovision star to host Reddit ‘Ask me Anything’ on Friday evening
There is one more night until the Eurovision 2023 final and last year’s UK representative Sam Ryder is hosting an Ask me Anything on social media to answer questions from fans. Ryder came second in 2022, losing to Ukrainian folk-rap group Kalush Orchestra.
This year’s Eurovision includes performers such as Sweden’s Loreen, Finland’s Käärijä, Spain’s Blanca Paloma, France’s La Zarra and Norway’s Alessandra.
But what is Ask me Anything and how can the public ask Ryder questions? Here’s everything you need to know.
What is Ask me Anything?
Ask Me Anything is a feature on social media that allows users to invite their followers to ask them questions about any subject or their own experiences. A celebrity, a subject-matter authority, a businessperson, or anybody else with a distinctive viewpoint to offer can be the subject of the enquiries.
Users are free to ask any questions they wish, and the person or business will answer them in real time or within a predetermined period.
The idea of AMAs first appeared on Reddit but they have spread to other social platforms like webinars, Facebook Live and Instagram Stories. Originally text-based, AMAs can now also be used using interactive stickers or live social video.
When and how to ask Sam Ryder questions
Ryder is using Reddit for his Ask me Anything questions. Questions can be submitted here at r/Eurovision. Keep in mind you will need to register for a Reddit account if you haven’t already got one.
Ryder will be answering questions in real time from 7pm on Friday May 12. Fans with any questions will need to submit their enquiries before then.
It is not known how long the 33-year-old will go live for and he is not expected to answer all the questions submitted.
Where to watch the Eurovision final 2023?
The final takes place on Saturday, May 13. All of the events will be live streamed and accessible on BBC1, BBC iPlayer and the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube account. The final will also be shown at Vue cinemas across the nation.
