Shocked witnesses watch motorcyclist run from crash

Witnesses have watched in shock as an injured motorcyclist ran from the scene of a serious crash in South Australia.

The 29-year-old was trying to run from a crash scene at Woodville West after his bike crashed into a tree allegedly while he was fleeing from police on Findon Road.

He was allegedly seen making a run for it moments after a crash tore his bike in two.

Witness Kieran Sitoula said the man had blood coming from his head.

"I tried to stop him, like 'mate you are injured, can you just hang here so we can ring the police, and the ambulance', but he didn't listen to us," he said.

But the man's time on the run was short lived and 300 metres from the crash scene he ran out of steam.

Witnesses said the man appeared to be yelling and swearing into his phone, just moments before he collapsed in the park.

SA Ambulance's Peter McEntee said judging by the man's abrasions he may have come off before hitting the tree and that may have saved him.

"If he'd had hit the tree at the speed he was doing, he'd have done more damage than what he's got at the moment," he said.
